Having a reactive dog is sh*t 💩

You have this dream of owning a dog, going on leasurly walks, chilling in cafes, beer gardens, country parks, etc. but now you can’t because your dog goes nuts at EVERYTHING! How could you not feel frustrated with this?!

As some of you may (or may not) have noticed, I’ve been pretty quiet on here for the last few months.

At the beginning of the year, we had the heartbreaking news that our little boy had a brain tumour and he would only have months left, if he was lucky.

Since then I have withdrawn from social media and dog training so that I could spend as much time as possible with Boo.
Yesterday he took his trip to his forever home in the sky. 💔

It has been terrifying to watch him go from seemingly perfectly healthy to barely recognisable in the space of 3 months. It just shows how important it is to cherish every moment with your dog and to prioritise making their life as fulfilling as possible for them.

Sleep tight my little boy, you will be missed so much 🐶🤎

❌DON’T BE THIS PERSON❌

This subject seems to be very popular at the moment and for good reason, it is causing some real problems for a lot of dog owners.

This is to educate people that are unaware of the impact it can have.

This was a hard lesson for me…

As dog owners, we are made to think that if your dog isn’t allowed cuddles on the sofa or to play with others dogs on your walk then you’re not just a bad owner, but also a bad person.

The problem is, you end up getting left with a reactive dog with no manners and guess what…
You’re STILL a bad owner and bad person. 🤯

The ones that judge you for not allowing your dog total freedom are they lucky ones that have put in little to no work and ended up with a dog that is totally manageable and has minimal problems.

The rest of us aren’t so lucky and we understand the consequences of not putting in the work early on and the importance of changing things to better our dogs quality of life.

Remember, if they haven’t been in your situation, their opinion is irrelevant!

Don't limit dog training to just the dog park; in fact, it's more beneficial when it's not restricted there. By training your dog in various settings, you help them develop confidence and reinforce their behaviors, ensuring consistent behavior no matter where they are.

Each of us holds our own beliefs, and it's natural that these viewpoints won't always align. And you know what? That's perfectly alright.

Instead of tearing each other down over differing perspectives, let's focus on understanding and respecting one another.

Disagreeing is fine, but it's important to remember that disagreement doesn't justify cruelty. Let's strive for kindness over negativity. 🙏 Spread love, not hate.
