A little reminder that we are closing early today and will reopen on Friday 27th. As always, our fabulous vets and nurses will be working over Christmas to tend to any emergencies. Please ensure you have collected any prescriptions before we close at 5pm today (1pm at Moreton) Whilst we are closed, you can continue to make appointments and order prescriptions on line via our website....these will be processed once we are back on Friday.

We would like to wish all of our clients a very Happy and Healthy Christmas!!

UPDATE - an owner has come forward

We are looking for the owner of a cat that was sadly brought in this morning after being hit by a car. He sadly passed away.
He is a young, neutered male, short-haired black and white, with NO microchip. It happened in the lanes of Ilsington. Please contact is of you think he may be yours.

Following our recent post regarding blood sharing, we have decided that we will also be a blood collection point. We will now be taking details of suitable candidates for blood donations. This is obviously free of charge to the donor and starts with a simple sample done with a nurse, to blood type the patient. If your dog matches the following criteria, please get in contact.

* Fit & healthy
* 1-8 years old
* Weigh more than 25kg
* Have a good temperament
* Has never travelled outside of the UK and Ireland
* Be vaccinated or have an annual titre test after the first year booster
* Not on any medication

We cannot stress enough, that if your dog is not happy being at the vets or is generally nervous, then they would not be a suitable donor dog.

Just like in human medicine, blood is a vital part of life in veterinary medicine too; in emergency situations when blood is needed it is vital to have blood ready for use in our patients. This is why we have joined the Pet Blood Bank Sharing Scheme. This scheme allows us to hold stocks of precious blood in practice for immediate use on our patients, but also to share it to other veterinary practices that may require it urgently; we have already been able to help another local practice just this week. Many practices are not able to stock blood due to the expense and very short shelf life (28 days), so the sharing scheme helps ensure that no blood is wasted. We are proud to be able to offer this service for our patients and for local practices.

Reunited!!

This sad looking boy has been brought in as a stray from the Trusham area. His chip is registered to Scotland, but he has since been rehomed. Sadly we do not have kennel space for strays, so he will be collected by the dog warden and made comfy at Foredown Kennels, Newton Abbot.
