We had the gorgeous little Ruby come in for a visit and she brought her babies in for their first visits as well π₯°
They all did so well and gave the best cuddles, getting pictures wasn't easy though as they where very wriggly π€£
Duggie in particular was just so exhausted from his visit that he slept through most of it. I don't think we need to point out which one he is π€£π΄

A guide to our uniforms at Rutland House π©πΌββοΈπ¨π½ββοΈ
When you visit the practice you may notice that different staff members may be wearing a different uniforms, but what do they mean?
Veterinary Surgeons.
Our First opinion vets will be wearing a blue polo shirt with their name on the pocket, you may also see our referral clinician's wearing smart clothing rather than blue polo shirts.
Vets go to university for 5+ years to train and are required to undertake 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) every year where some of the referral clinicians are required to undertake over 100 hours of CPD a year.
CPD is developing skills by reading, attending or giving lectures and undertaking clinical courses, to name a few.
Veterinary Nurses.
Our Registered Veterinary Nurses, or RVN's will be wearing a green uniform.
RVN's, undertake 3-5 years of education to pass a series of written and practical exams to be able to register as a veterinary nurse. Our nurses like the vets are required to undertake CPD each year with the minimum being 15 hours, but some of our nurses undertake courses and additional qualifications that will take over 100 hours a year to complete.
Student Veterinary Nurses.
The student veterinary nurses will be wearing a dark blue uniform and they are currently undertaking there training to become an RVN.
The students rotate around the hospital into different areas and attend collage one day a week to gain there knowledge as well as on the job training.
Animal Care Assistants.
The ACA's in the hospital wear a light blue uniform, some of the ACA's are waiting to start the veterinary nursing course and become a student veterinary nurse.
The ACA's rotate around the practice and are responsible for the general maintenance of the patients, taking them for walks, feeding and general TLC. The also assist the vets and nurses in holding patients and helping keep everything topped up and the hospital well stocked.
Veterinary Care Assistant.
We currently have one VCA in practice who wears maroon, our VCA has done additional training and is the bridge between our ACA's and Student vet nurses.
Reception Staff.
Our wonderful reception staff wear a blue uniform with white diamonds, they are the first voice you will hear on the telephone and will great you when you arrive into the hospital. The reception staff have taken on additional veterinary reception training are are able to help and assist with general enquiries about insurance, treatment and advice.
As you can see there are a lot of different people that perform a range of different roles that keep the practice operating.

βWe understand that the Competition and Markets Authorityβs findings, to which we responded earlier today, might cause some initial upset amongst veterinary clients, but we would strongly urge all animal owners not to vent their frustrations at their veterinary teams in this manner.
We respect the right of animal owners to express their opinions, but this can never justify or include the harassment and abuse of individual vets, vet nurses or their practice colleagues.
We would remind animal owners that the vast majority of vets and vet nurses are not responsible for business decisions within their practice environment, and that any concerns would be best directed either to practice owners or, better still, submitted as part of the CMAβs upcoming consultation.
We know that owners care deeply about their animals, and that vets and vet nurses are hugely committed to maintaining the health and welfare of animals across the UK, and supporting public health.
We feel it is important to recognise and thank vets and vet nurses for this commitment, especially in the face of current workforce shortages and increased animal ownership.β - Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
We are very concerned to note that, since the publication of the CMA report into the vet sector earlier today, there has been a worrying spike in abusive behaviour and harassment by some animal owners towards vets, vet nurses and practice colleagues.

Some of you might recognise our little Hunter from some of our day care posts/photos. π₯°
Hunter has also started having some hydrotherapy sessions to help with his legs and hips.
