SOLD. Jack has made an impact on so many hearts. Although bittersweet I am excited to see Jack move on to a young lady who has loved on him at KIPS for the last couple of years. I know she will love him as much as I do and I'm looking forward to watching them have some fun together. 🥰

It really is time to find Bella's next person. She has become a chubby paddock ornamant, due to Ivy out growing her.
Now heres the kicker...Bella IS NOT your average kids pony. She wont tolerate all the phaffing about that comes with some youg riders.
She needs clear,concise, confident direction. And experienced adult to assist in this would be advised.

THE GOOD
🔸️Has many outings under her belt.
🔸️Loves the water whether it's river beach or bath.
🔸️Runs on the sniff of a biscuit of hay
🔸️Trims down and holds an athletic physique when in real work.
🔸️Jumps well and likes it
🔸️Doesn't mind some kid tricks with her person
🔸️Is not overly affectionate but loves her itchy spots scratched and will happily take a nap while you tend to these.
🔸️Happy to participate in the odd dress up
🔸️Good with farrier, worming, getting her teeth done, floating etc.

THE NOT SO GOOD
🔸️SHE IS A CHESTNUT MARE
🔸️ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR BEGINNERS
🔸️Loves the mud as much as she loves the water
🔸️Very quick to put you in your place. (read into that what you will)
🔸️Gets grass affected which we manage with supplements
🔸️Is not a pass around pony - she really needs her own person to bond with and trust.
🔸️She is so out of work she looks like she's returned from a 6 month vaycay on the beaches of Bali.

We have made the tough decision to wind up our activities at KIPS Equestrian. Life has thrown up some curve balls that mean it is no longer possible to continue offering our services. SO we will be looking for 5 star homes for some of our beautiful super star ponies. PM us if you know of anyone looking.

I think I'm more anxious than our horses. They have had Hippo Health Fireworks Angel in every trough for the past few days and will get a wee treat with an extra sq**rt at dusk for good measure. 😖

It's fireworks night tomorrow night, and while it is too late to desensitize our horses to the noises, here are a few safety tips for getting you through this time of the year!

1. Stick to their normal routine. If they are usually stabled at night, stable them. If they are paddocked, leave them there. Changing routine can create stress, especially if they are leaving their friends.

2. Ensure wherever they are kept is safe. The fence is secure, and the stable doesn't have a loose bolt!

3. Keep them with their friends. Able to touch and groom is best, see is second best. Don't change their mates just before.

4. If stabled, sound proofing, or playing noise to drown out the noise can help.

5. Give them something to eat, and keep them occupied with food puzzles (e.g. a haynet with carrots hidden in it)

6. Stay with them, and yes you can reassure them! Stay calm.

7. Feed high value food (if they can eat...) while it's happening. e.g. a handful of grain for each bang.

8. Stay safe. Don't try stop them while they are bolting, or restrain a panicking horse.

We have made the tough decision to close over the next 9 days due to horrific ground conditions & horse health. The weather has certainly played havoc with kicking things off in our new property. We will re-open for lessons on Tues 26th October.
We will touch base with individual clients but feel free to share this post.

Do the mahi - earn the mana...and the treats! These horse crazy kids are here rain or shine and have rolled with whatever the weather gods have thrown at us. It hasn't been an easy holiday programme with new surroundings, higgeldy piggeldy stables, loads of horse maintenance and more mud than we care for. But they still turn up 😍
