In UKC Shed Hunt, we only use real shed antlers in trials! Deer drop, or shed, their antlers in late winter and early spring after their breeding season is over. Antlers cut from a deer, dead or alive, are not considered sheds!

From the ESDS rule book:

"Antler sheds may range in size from those carried by average to large whitetail deer or mule deer but may not consist of spikes. Antlers must be natural sheds in good condition with no chew marks or splintering. Antlers which have been cut from a skull plate may not be used. Artificial antlers may not be used."

And something I think is super cool, but have not seen happen in person yet:

"In the event a naturally occurring shed is recovered it is eligible to be scored if it was found on the course."

Intro post! 🤩

Currently, Tenn Point is a small group of folks training for the UKC dog sport "Elite Shed Dog Series". I hope to put together a club and set up formal training dates through this fall and winter, possibly planning our first trial in 2025.

Feel free to follow, and please reach out if you have questions or would like to join in on training in the future. I am also excited to make some information posts and guides all about UKC shed hunting!
