Just throwing this out there. A few years back our rescue walked in a parade ( there was over 100 thousand people in attendance) We're thinking about doing it again this year in Knoxville's Christmas Parade. The parade is televised live so it brings alot of publicity to our rescue. We're also thinking about making it where all breeds of hounds could walk ( not just bloodhounds even though they would lead) When we did the parade in Gatlinburg hound owners came from all over the United States to participate. I'm just wondering if any of our followers would like to join in if I decide to do this?

It's been a very sad day here at the rescue, but also a fantastic day. Three of our bloodhounds left today with their new handlers and they're headed off to training next week. I miss them already but I know they're gonna love this. Watch out bad guys, here they come!

Happy Saturday everyone! We've had a bunch of our followers suggest we start a fundraising campaign to buy a new pressure washer. After having ours for years it finally bit the dust. We have to have a new one because we use it daily on our kennels. We're also down a kennel top due to the storms. Good morning all. We have an announcement. As of now, East Tennessee Bloodhound Rescue is closed to intake. I will continue to devote all my time to the doggies we have here. The dogs aren't the problem. It's the crazy people I have to deal with daily. People who don't know me at all. I'm sorry our rescue has had to ask for help in the past. I suppose we're the only rescue that has had to do that ( yes, that's sarcasm on my part) I want to thank everyone who has helped our rescue. I never could have done this alone. Miss Olive update.
She saw her new vet yesterday and he is fantastic. He looked at her xrays and said she was in no way a candidate for surgery on her legs. She is crippled and always will be. Her skin is improving slowly. She weighed 120lbs when she came here and as of yesterday she is down to 103lbs. Her vet and I have one common goal for her and thats to make sure she's pain free and happy.

Olive is now down to 106lbs!!! I can already tell she's feeling better. We are still asking for donations for her upcoming vet care. We are trying to get alot done here at the rescue in a short period of time. We're needing to buy 5 crates. We use these to crate some of the unruley guys at night and ours are just falling apart. We're also getting elevated beds for our kennels, and we're down a kennel top. We're trying to get all of our facebook followers to donate just one dollar so we can get these things done. If we could do that we wouldn't have a worry in the world and I could finally quit stressing for awhile. We usually have such bad luck and we need a change for my piece of mind and for all the seniors here at the sanctuary!

Guys we're asking for help for Olive once more. I'm posting a picture of her bill from last Saturday that we need covered. She'll have to go back in May for her injection which is 140 bucks. I think we may have her thyroid levels just where they need to be. And then we may need help with her next round of meds which is about 60 bucks. If our rescue can pull this together this little lady will be all set. Oh, and I forgot to mention. She's lost 3 more pounds. Good Sunday afternoon everybody. I hope everyone is having beautiful weather like we are right now. I want to apologize in advance for this long post. I will be addressing several things in this post so I hope it answers alot of questions. First of all, I want to explain how our rescue and sanctuary operates. We don't have a ton of foster homes. Myself, my husband, my daughter and my son in law run this rescue here in Tennessee. My very best friend, Sharon Gail ( who I love and cherish) tries to keep up with the page. I'm the director of this rescue and I could never do it without her. There has been so many comments about our newest rescue, Olive, that it's almost impossible to get everything answered in a timely fashion. Anyone is more than welcome to read our past post and our rescue has never started any Facebook drama. But we did run across some comments last night that has me irate. Comments such as "if you run out of dog food do you just starve the dogs or put them to sleep" Who in their right mind would write such a idiotic thing? And there are many other nasty comments. We are a non profit rescue and have been for years. I don't personally know of any rescue that takes in senior, abused dogs that doesn't ask for help. There was also a comment asking how much dog food we personally donate. My husband bust his ass every single day working more hours than any man should to support these dogs. These animals are what our lives revolve around. Sharon also helps these dogs constantly. So to put it in a nutshell, the next idiot that makes a comment like that will be banned. I can only tolerate so much. Next, I want to thank everyone who has donated to Olive from the bottom of my heart. We are COMPLETELY stocked with dog food and won't be needing anymore for quite awhile. OLIVE IS SAFE!!!! We have been asked that a million times. OLIVE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! She will live her life out here at our sanctuary. We really appreciate everyone who has wanted to adopt her, but Olive is not well. She can just walk a few steps at a time then she has to lay down. To get her up and down three small steps to take her to the vet we have to carry her with a sling. There is no better place in the world for her than here. I cater to her 24/7 to make sure every need she has will be met. Everybody see's what a cutie she is but that is from a view of the front. I will be posting her vet visit total from yesterday, along with a beautiful picture of her from the front. But, I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. I will also post below a picture we took of her from behind. Her skin is horrific. According to the vet this is due to all her thyroid issues. Instead of medicated baths the vet gave her medicated dry shampoo because of her mobility issues. It's not working. So as of tonight she starts medicated baths. She was also being treated for a double ear infection. That medication didn't work so yesterday she got her ears packed with a long lasting antibiotic. Olive will never be able to walk well due to two torn ACL's that weren't treated by her former owner. Arthritis has built up on top of those. Olive will need biweekly vet visits untill we can get these thyroid issues resolved, and will be on monthly injections for the rest of her life to manage pain. Now here's where all her followers come in. We need help with these vet cost DESPERATELY!!!! After she is seen next Saturday to check her thyroid and recheck her skin the money will be gone. We need help with these vet cost until we get her levels straight or she doesn't have much hope. The vet we are using is the absolute best, but she isn't cheap. She has been with us on the journey with Olive since the begining and we want to continue to use her. If anybody can solve this it's her. We hate to beg, but we will for this girl.
