We love what we do and take our responsibility of providing quality pet care services seriously. My name is Patricia Haas and I started Mongo's Pet Sitting and Dog Walking in 2016. With a lifetime of experience working with animals ( my dad was a veterinarian ), I decided to put my skills and knowledge to work. My staff and I provide daily dog walks, pet sitting, and overnight stays for your compa

nion animals. We customize our visits to meet the needs of each client. I am insured and bonded and open 24/7 365 days a year. We service all of Kalamazoo County. I volunteered with animal rescue groups in Florida and Southwest Michigan.

Hello fellow Michigan animal lovers! Tomorrow, June 18th could be a very important day for Michigan animals. House Bills 5587-5593 will possibly be voted on. These bills will increase the punishment for felony animal cruelty. Contact your Michigan State Representative and ask them to vote IN FAVOR of these bills.
Current sentencing guidelines for felony animal cruelty are ineffective because animals are considered property!

This is what has occurred in Wayne County, and probably every county in Michigan: Data pulled from the 3rd Judicial Courts Website: Out of 50 cases over the last 6 years
22 of those cases were disposed with 2-3 years probation! and 3 of those were reduced to misdemeanors (don't forget these were felony cases!)
12 cases still have OPEN WARRENTS, with some dating back to 2018

5 cases were dismissed
2 are pending
1 was reassigned.

ONLY 8 cases received ANY JAIL TIME!
one received 30 days
1 received 50 days
one received 5 months
2 received 6 months, 1 with a suspended sentence
1 received 9 months
1 received 12 months and he had a previous weapons conviction!

Please help seek justice for Michigan animal victims!

Thank you!

Many years ago I read an article in one of my father's veterinary journals about the high su***de rate for veterinarians. Yesterday I was at a vet office with one of my guinea pigs - this was posted on the wall in the exam room.

The lunch and learn event on Pet Trusts held at the Michigan Humane Society was a real eye opener. Did you know that your pets are not fully protected if you have them in your Will? Bad things can happen if there is not a Pet Trust. All attendees went home with a copy of the book WHO WILL CARE WHEN YOU'RE NOT THERE? I highly recommend this book, written by two Michigan attorneys!

Guinea Pigs and extreme heat don't mix! Heat is the silent killer of guinea pigs and it occurs quickly! Guinea pigs need air conditioning! If you don't have air conditioning you will need to work hard to keep your piggie safe. Here are a few tips that might help.
1. Freeze water bottles-wrap in sock and place in cage
2. Place stone tiles in cage- they can be frozen before hand also
3. Do not use fleece in the cage for bedding. Instead use kiln dried pine bedding found at Blains.
4. Keep their cage away from window and sun beaming into their cage.
5. Offer water veggies/fruits such as water melon and cucumbers
6. Offer water bottles and bowls of water.
7. Use fans directly on their cage but make sure it is positioned so hot air from a window is not blowing on them.
8. Consult with your exotic pet vet for additional information
SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE:
1. They will lay down with all 4 legs stretched out
2. They will have a fast heart rate
3. Wet chin
4. Not eating. Offer them one of their favorite veggies or fruits. If they don't eat it, this is a very bad sign.
5. Transport to veterinarian ASAP

Guinea pigs should never be kept in aquariums or plastic cages. They have very delicate respiratory systems and need grid type cages which allows more air flow.
