Andrew is a 3 yr old Doberman coming to B.A.R.K. with some urgent medical needs. He has been non-weight bearing on his front leg due to a gnarly break while trying to navigate a shelter environment. Our veterinarians are confident that they will be able to assess and treat his leg but as always, it comes with a very high price tag (like a 6k price tag)! This boy is gorgeous, social, and deserves a chance to live his life to the fullest. Please consider a little Venmo love to Andrew on this beautiful Monday morning! 💙

New Mutt Monday!
Jack5 (not a typo…we’ve just had so many “Jacks” lately that he gets to be number five!) is a 5 yr old Black Lab mix who is nearly 80lbs! He’s great with other dogs, loves to be around his people whenever possible, and is settling into the routine at his foster home! Jack5 came to us already neutered and the shelter gave him his initial vaccines. That is a HUGE bonus when we’re trying so hard to save money, and it definitely influences if we can save a dog or not. Unfortunately, he had a broken tooth and required dental care. Our adoption fees are $425. Jack5’s visit was $695.96. The math just doesn’t seem to math for us when we need it to! If you can spare some Venmo change this morning, we would LOVE YOU for it! We are trying so hard to stay on top of our finances this year so we can continue to save dogs all year long! 💙

Who loves biiiiiig babies? Gus is a 16 week old Cane Corso puppy who was surrendered to B.A.R.K. after he was gifted to an owner who wasn’t able to take on another pup. Gus will be a big commitment, both literally and figuratively speaking! XL breed experienced is preferred for this brindle babe! With arms full of raw food, eye drops, and a sweet Truffle…there is now an empty kennel at B.A.R.K. once more. Truffle scored big with a house full of squish face experience and lots of dog friends to force her snuggles upon! She was the most wonderful bulldog in all of the land. And the most expensive. Thank you all for loving her and donating to her care! Waddle on, sweet trufflepig.

In May of 2022, someone dropped a young dog off at the shelter claiming his name was JD, which stood for “just dumb”. JD swiftly became “Jack” and while in foster care, he was found to be anything but “just dumb”! He is a loving, quirky, and highly motivated pup! Through heartworm treatment, trainings, neighborhood tours, trial home visits that failed, and stolen countertop snack raids that did not… Jack has finally found his person. He is home.

We were keeping a little secret!
Our Chow Chow, Junie, got an application before Christmas from someone who was a fantastic match for our little orange bear. Through our adoption process, they paused and said they had to work on getting their spouse on board. But…the spouse had already been secretly working with us to create a Junie Christmas surprise! We just got these updated photos and I think you’ll agree, she feels right at home!

CONGRATULATIONS ZOOMY!
He is our very first adoption of 2024!
Zoomy came to us as a 3 month old puppy in November of 2022 and was overlooked time and time again. He was a shyer dog with loyalty to only his trusted people. His forever family wanted a different dog completely who would have been a difficult fit for their lifestyle. After some discussion about other dogs, they were willing to meet Zoomy who was not on their radar at all! We’re so glad they were open minded and let us play match maker! Happy forever, Zoom.

Happy New Year from the Fab 5! These five dogs are the ONLY dogs left at B.A.R.K. to ring in 2024 still in foster care. We are eternally grateful for the support and love you’ve all shown to our animals throughout the years. Last year was definitely the hardest rescue year we’ve experienced both financially and with the sheer numbers of MN dogs needing to be saved. We closed our intake in August and we’re hoping that this month we will begin saving lives once more! We (YOU!) got our 16k+ debt down to less than 2k - and a few adoptions will knock that right out! Finally! Please share our Fab 5 and get their photos in front of the people who need to have a New Dog New Year.

“Ready for tready?!” If you say that, Jack will LOVE you forever! And then race to his treadmill to take himself for a walk.

Jack is 4 yrs old and is done with the puppy nonsense like making indoor poops and crying in a kennel. He is a full grown adult who shuts down potential burglaries like he’s auditioning for a Dateline documentary, takes treats gently, and snoozes the day away while you work. No matter what he says…he is NOT people. Do NOT believe him. People do not sn**ch flying birds out of the air and eat them whole. People do not blatantly point at things in public. People definitely do not yell at the Fed Ex man or swear at neighbor-in-a-new-hat for no reason. But they do make blanket nests on your couch and share your fries and go hiking with you. So we can see where things could get confusing.

Here’s the real deal: this dog has not had his own family for 2 years and has been bounced around in foster care. He’s not an incredibly desirable breed in the rescue/dog world. He’s not a puppy. He’s a semi-active hunting breed that may or may not hunt. He desires to eliminate cats from planet earth. And squirrels. But all of this does not make him less worthy of a family. And he really, really needs one for Christmas. Please share Jack. His adoption fee has been significantly reduced to ensure that his family won’t be caught in a financial pinch during the holidays. ❤️💚❤️💚 www.barkmn.org

Thank you doesn’t even begin to say how we feel! We are slowly climbing out of the vet debt canyon and it’s all because of YOUR generosity! We got to over 50% of our goal in 24hrs with so many other worthy causes running the same race. We felt so much support from our friends, family, AND other rescue groups! Give to the Max Day is this week and we are so excited to be able to raise money for our existing dogs, for our vet bills, and to be able to lift our intake hold and start saving more animals. We have not saved a single animal since August due to our existing debt. We are so appreciative of every single dollar we receive and look forward to spending Minnesota’s largest day of giving with you on Thursday!

Our Jack smells autumn and wonders why his hunting/ outdoorsy family hasn’t found him yet. He needs room to run and sniff his brains right out. Who loves this smart and sensitive breed?
Jack is tolerant of people/dogs/routines that he knows, but is too busy to be an “apartment” dog and too protective of his space to live without fence in town. He loves car rides and adventures! Go run the fields with him! His adoption fee has been reduced due to his length of stay in rescue (a long, long time). Please share our boy and help him get HOME!

A special little guy put in a very specific request for “his” next dog. (Spoiler alert: it looked nothing like a purebred female Bloodhound puppy that was found on the streets!) For the last 8+ weeks, he has been waiting for Miss Mabel to be assessed, fully vetted, and tested with dogs, cats, and kids of all kinds. Our foster families are purebred angels. Today it just so happened we could all get to the same place at the same time to make an adoption happen! And this sniffy little hound seemed to know her new boy right away. This makes it all worth it. Merry Christmas, Mabel! THANK YOU!! Awhile ago we posted a fundraiser requesting a dogPACER Treadmill for our dogs who were having a hard time making their minds and bodies calm enough to learn and settle. We can successfully say that structure + treadmill work has given Sherman one more skill that will make him such a good boy in a new home. Look at that tail go! When Sherman finds his family, the treadmill will move to a new B.A.R.K. dog in need! This is such a blessing! 🙏🏼❤️ 🐾
