We are back! This week we have Fruit, Veggies, Bread and Pantry! Our meat delivery starts back too and first delivery is the 20th of Jan 24!
Over the holiday break, we’ve had a chance to reflect on the past 12 months, and well, what a year it’s been! Since the beginning of 2023, we have…
🥑grown the number of Hubs by 48 to 236
🥦 added more than 3,000 members (net) so we’re now at 10,200
🍑 made 10,307 hub deliveries, representing more than 300,000 member orders
🍓 in the Christmas week alone, we delivered 65 tonnes of fruit and vegetables – including 7 tonnes of watermelon and 1000 bunches of shallots, and we home-delivered over 1500 chilled orders with 24 drivers (albeit not with a perfect score…).
Never in our wildest dreams did we expect this, and yet: we can’t escape the notion we only just got started. Indeed, with all the exciting developments in the pipeline, 2024 is already shaping up as another momentous year.
Even so, the numbers don’t really tell the full story: of how you are changing the lives of our members, our Hubsters and the communities that surround them. You are also keeping viable some 40 peri-urban farming communities still left in the Sydney basin and surrounds – from George Portelli in Maroota to Manuel Xerri in Agnes Banks, the Ung family in Wallacia and the Grimas in Horsley Park. They play a vital role in preventing over-development in the Greater Sydney.
You are helping people reduce their environmental footprint by using less packaging, buying more local produce, reducing supermarket trips – and with their ECOKAPS support, you have kept an estimated 25,000 single-use cleaning bottles out of landfill this year alone.
You are keeping 60 people in meaningful employment – fulltime or part time, never casual – and help develop their skills and experience.
