Dogs traveling on or after August 1, 2024, to the United States from Canada will be required to meet the following CDC requirements:
• be at least 6 months of age
• have an ISO-compliant or universally readable microchip
• must be up to date on Rabies vaccination
• complete the CDC Dog Import Form online and print the receipt. This form should be completed online ideally 2-10 days before arrival.
• appear healthy upon arrival
• have an export document issued and signed by a Canadian-licensed veterinarian. This document is valid for multiple entries into the United States until the next rabies due date.
• have 1-year of medical records printed

Its that time of year again!

Have you noticed red round lesions on your dogs stomach?
These could just be gnat or black fly bites, and although they may look bad, they are generally harmless.
Gnats and blackflies are especially prevalent in the early months of spring and tend to target pets that spend a lot of time outside. The flies usually appear mid-May to mid-June and last three to four weeks, depending on the weather.
Marks usually last 48 to 72 hours. Pet owners can rest assured that the bite marks are not hurting their furry friends and will subside quickly on their own.
In rare cases, the bites may cause a bacterial infection, but it can easily be treated with antibiotics. If the lesions don’t resolve within five days, or the dog is itchy, off food or depressed, please see your veterinarian.
