We want to inform our clients of some concerning cat thefts that have been happening in Surrey recently.

We have been informed that there have been a spate of cats that have gone missing over the weekend in Guildford, particularly in the Park Barn, Bellfields and Stoughton areas. Although this may not be linked, other members of the public have reported cats being picked up by someone in a grey BMW.

Surrey Police are currently investigating and have said:

"We are also still keen to hear from anyone with information that might assist our investigation. No matter how small or insignificant it may seem, any piece of evidence you have could be vital.

Deafness is rising in the UK; by 2035, it is estimated that one in five
British people (over 15 million) will experience hearing loss.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds like the smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry.
Their burgundy coats also act as a visual reminder to the public when they are out and about that their partner is deaf.

Since you cannot check your rabbit’s teeth at home, it is important to look out for signs of dental disease.

There are many things that you can look out for that might indicate that your rabbit has some sort of dental health issue.

If you notice any of these signs, it is important that you bring your rabbit to your vet for an oral assessment as soon as possible. Stopping eating altogether is an emergency.

Flystrike happens more often in warm weather, and in rabbits who have soiled fur (often due to poor diet, obesity or arthritis).

Throughout the spring and summer rabbits must be checked twice daily and any soiled fur cleaned.

If you find any sign of fly eggs or maggots you must arrange for your rabbit to see a vet as soon as possible.

With the new cat microchipping legislation in England coming in on 10 June 2024, if you have a new kitten, you may be wondering when you would need to get them microchipped by.
All cats need to microchipped by the time they are 20 weeks of age, this could be done during their neutering procedure so it can be placed easily and they do not feel it.

We had the pleasure of meeting the gorgeous little Barnaby for his first health check and lots of cuddles!

This month, we’re working with the vet sector and the NHS to encourage the return of out-of-date and unused antibiotics to help tackle the growing issue of antimicrobial resistance. During our amnesty, we are asking our clients to return out-of-date and unused medicines to our practices for safe disposal.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a world-wide health threat, as bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics we use. Throughout November we are holding an antibiotic amnesty where we are asking our clients to return any unused antibiotic medications for safe disposal.
