Since yesterday was National Rescued Pet day, we thought it appropriate to introduce you to a few of our favorite rescue organizations. Let us just say, that we applaud & love ALL rescues. What you do is life saving for so many pets. If we could list we all, we would. What a list that would be.

If you aren’t on our list, we still love you and thank you for all you do. Please drop your rescue’s name and info in the comment section for anyone looking for a new furry family member. 🐾💙

1. BARCS & MD SPCA- you can’t have a Baltimore area rescue list without mentioning BARCS & the SPCA. While they are two separate entities, we chose to group them together. They adopt dogs, cats and many other critters, too.
2. All Shepherd Rescue- All Shepherd Rescue is a foster based rescue that finds adoptable, lovable and in need Shepherds for Maryland families. Some of our favorite doggos have come from ARS. They are incredibly adept at finding great fits based on your families needs. If you are looking for a Shepherd or Shepard mix dog, you cannot go wrong with ARS.
3. Small Miracles- Don’t let the name fool you, small miracles offers both small and large breed dogs and kitties, too. They are based in Ellicott City and are private foster based rescue that is non-profit and no kill.
4. AARF- Animal Allies Rescue Foundation is a Baltimore based rescue that is volunteer run and non-profit. They are dedicated to promoting the rescue and adoption of abandoned, abused, homeless, and neglected animals. From 2012-2022, AARF has saved over 1k dogs and 2k cats, paying over $200k in medical bills to rehabilitate them. The folks at AARF are truly great and care deeply for their animals. If you’re looking for a kitten or teenage car, go check them out now. They have quite a few.
5. Husky Education and Rescue Team- senior technician Ashley adopted her husky Ari from HEART, along with a handful of other Aardmore clients with huskies, too. HEART specializes in northern breed dogs such as huskies, malamutes and Samoyeds. They are foster & volunteer based, non-profit & rescue animals from high kill shelters all over the USA. This network of Sibe Lovers’ operates in Millersville, MD. They work very hard to ensure that your new family member is the perfect fit for your home and current pets. Program director Mindy and all of her volunteers pours her HEART and soul into these dogs and it really shows. If you are in the market for a Northern Breed, check them out.

Today is National Rescued Pet Day. In honor of rescue animals everywhere, we wanted to introduce you to some of our adopted family members. Meet Ari, the red headed husky, who is Ashley's dog. She was adopted from Husky Education and Rescue team. Leon's dog Scarlett came from MD SPCA. She can often be found lounging behind our front desk here at Aardmore. 😉

F***l testing is included in your Annual Exam at NO additional charge. It is important to make sure your pet is parasite free. During your Annual Exam, we recommend a blood test for heartworm disease, but we also recommend you bring a f***l sample to your appointment to check for intestinal parasites, too. 👀💩

Since many of your have asked about them, we thought an introduction was in order. Meet Mabel and Marley, our resident feral cats who were born and raised right here in our parking lot. You may often catch them sitting by our back door, playing in the trees behind the fence &/or adorning the staff vehicles in the parking lot like hood ornaments. While Mabel has become quite friendly with our staff, even coming in the back door to spend some time in our office, she is still terrified and skittish around new people. We have made little progress with Marley in terms of human affection, but we continue to try to win her trust. They are vaccinated, spayed, loved by our staff and well cared for. They even have a cat house that is insulated to keep them warm and dry which Mabel sleeps in nightly. We appreciate your care and concern for them, and while we too wish they could be indoor kitties, for now they are happy and healthy. We will continue to earn their trust, and hopefully make them indoor clinic kitties one day soon. Please do not attempt to catch them or pet them and do not chase them. We are concerned they will be scared away and we do not want to jeopardize any progress we have made. Thank you. 🐱💙

We want her to know how greatly she will be missed by us all. 🥰

In just two short weeks on May 10th, our beloved Dr. Tuckerman will be leaving us for another opportunity. We wish her all the best in her future, but hope she knows how sorely she will be missed here by her coworkers, clients, furry patients and friends. We love you Dr.T, thank you for many years of amazing service. 💙

Spring has sprung & it is time for flowers, which means it is also time for bees. Your dog may try to eat bees or catch them, which can cause some swelling and discomfort. Many times this is minor and they are soon back to chasing the next bee, but if your pet is stung inside the mouth, the throat or multiple times in close proximity, we recommend seeking emergency treatment. First, remove your pet from the location in case more bees are present, then ensure your pet's airway is clear and any swelling is not causing difficulty breathing. After your pet is in safe location and appears to be breathing fine, take a deep breath yourself & finally, contact your vet. ☀️🌺🐝

We have an IMMEDIATE OPENING for two full time veterinary assistants (35-40 hours a week). Experience is preferred but not required. Shifts are 730a-4pm with one to two 730a-730p shifts each week. We are closed on Sunday and Thursday. Pay is negotiated based on experience. We are paid weekly and offer a consistent schedule that will not change from week to week unless you approve or request said change.
