You will need to fill out an application and get approved with a Rescue to pull for you.ACCT Philly111 W Hunting Park Ave, Philadelphia, PaOpen every day 10am-5pmArya was found roaming a local park all alone. The finder described her as friendly with kids, people and cuddly. Arya would do best in an adult-only home due to her discomfort with handling and immense amount of fear observed during her time in the shelter. Arya has also had positive dog interactions. We would recommend a slow introduction. Overall she is looking for a calm place to feel safe. She showed some negative behaviors at intake but volunteers have many positive things to say about her. She has a 'doggy cold'. She will deteriorate in isolation, another reason she needs placement. Arya will do best in a home where she can decompress with patient owners and recover. She had great dog meets so just needs to be separated for a week or two during recovery to prevent resident dogs from catching the cold.Staff said: "Very chill and calm dog. She enjoyed sniffing and exploring but didn't have much interest in me or treats or playing right now. It appears in just a couple of days she is already opening up!”She was reported to be a sweet friendly girl with lots of strangers at the photoshoot too!READ FULL BIO here: www.acctphilly.org/available-dogs🚨Pledges help encourage a rescue group to save her: www.tinyurl.com/acctpledge 🚨This

Apple is a very sweet girl who would do best in a home who will take things at her pace and doesn't mind a velcro dog- as Apple LOVES to be next her people and takes comfort in being next to you. She has had great dog meets with other canine friends at the shelter so she may enjoy the companionship of another dog in a home! She is now cleared of kennel cough and feeling better!A volunteer said: I had her out during her first days at ACCT and she's grown SO much since then. Even though she was shy then, I saw changes within a couple days. She did great at the photoshoot with many strangers (which can be overwhelming for shy dogs). He came to the shelter after being found wrapped up in caution tape, and sadly hasn't had it easy. He is a sweet and gentle guy, and walks well on the leash. He is a tall 40 pound guy and could gain some weight, and it’s only about four years old. He has had dog meets that have gone poorly, and that have gone well, so would do best with an extremely slow introduction and does better when the introductions aren't face to face. Overall we would recommend a single -dog household for Moby due to his selective behavior. He is a sweet and gentle dog who would love a home, foster or rescue to help him find his way! When I got down on his level he leaned in for pets, after loosening up the run he began to solicit attention and even climbed in my lap for a hug! When he gets excited he can be mildly jumpy but very easily redirected and overall he's medium to low energy. Chill dog looking for a family to love. Cheddar is a very calm and well-mannered 1yr old pup. She came to us for the second time as an owner surrendered on 08/12 after her owners home was destroyed in a fire. She really enjoys outside time and socializing. Her favorite activities are playing fetch and leaning in for all of your attention and pets. She loves to walk, eat and wiggle around. Medically Cheddar came to us generally healthy on 08/01 but, was monitored due to heat stress. However on 08/14 staff noted that he had bloody stool and has been monitored by staff. She has been medicated and staff observes her stool regularly. Cheddar has also had negative dog interactions since being in our care so we would recommend a single-dog household. Cheddar is a social and affectionate lady! if the handler stopped petting her she would rub against the handler more and move even closer soliciting further attention. She was surprisingly not interested in treats, despite her large size! Cheddar was a lot of fun outside and was just as content getting pets as she was playing.

Tabitha is petite young dog, such a sweetheart and the happiest little girl. Leaned against me for pets outside but was more interested in the two other dogs in the play yards. She did play bows from across the lawn and seemed very interested in playing with Stefon, who she had a good fence meet with. But she was just as happy to put her front paws on my lap and get pets at the bench. Tabitha was observed to have a "doggy cold” but is getting better. They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. Overall Tabitha has improved her health but will do best in a home where she can be cared for on an individual basis. Tabitha has also had positive and negative dog interactions so, she has been assessed to be selective. She will do best in a single dog household. However, if you are considering adding Tabitha to your pack we would recommend an extremely slow introduction. If you think you have room in your heart for Tabitha. Please come meet her today.

Sweet, playful young pup Claudia is just one year old and in need of a fresh start! Claudia was found as a stray, trapped in a fence. They helped free her and brought her to safety. At just 33 pounds, and under a year old, Claudia is a petite little lady with so much love to give! Claudia is known around the shelter for her good leash manners, fun-loving nature, and love of human friends.
Like many puppies, Claudia sometimes exhibits behaviors such as mouthiness and overarousal, so she would thrive in a structured household that can provide training and help her work on her manners. Sadly, the shelter is no place for an energetic, active pup like Claudia, and being in a kennel has caused Claudia significant stress and anxiety. Due to her increasing kennel stress, Claudia urgently needs to exit the shelter with an adopter, experienced foster, or rescue partner who can help her get the training she needs and provide a safe, loving, and calm environment.

A year ago she was not this skinny when she was adopted out. Wilder is a quiet, sweet, and gentle girl in need of a safe place to recover in peace. On 8/15 staff noted: "Wilder is such a sweet, mellow girl. Her energy level is quite low, which is understandable with how thin she is. I approached her kennel and she came right up to me, sniffed me, and let me leash her with no problems at all. We went outside in the play yard, where she sniffed around for a couple minutes before she spied a comfy cushion on a bench. She climbed up onto the bench, curled up into a ball, and didn't get up for about 20 minutes. She allowed me to pet her all over with no issues, and solicited some attention. Another volunteer came in and offered Wilder a few treats, which she took very nicely. Wilder is so calm and quiet. She easily reentered her kennel when we returned. He was quickly adopted out due to his fun and loving personality. "He was easy to get out of the kennel! He walked well on a leash harness with no issues. Once in the run he was bouncy and playful. He enjoyed chasing after the toys! He was super happy and friendly when a couple said hello to him from outside of the fence. Maximus came in the shelter with another dog, completely overheated and was cared for by vet staff. Maximus greets people through the fence, and attempts to fit his entire body on your lap for cuddles. Maximus has a zest for life. He loves sniffing and exploring and couldn’t be bothered to stop having fun to pose for pictures. He is quite clumsy and uncoordinated which is adorable. He was not interested in playing with toys. Maximus gets over aroused with handling and gets jumpy and mouthy. He can be quite snappy with food so an open palm or tossing them is best.
Poor Maximus is now beginning to show signs of kennel stress unfortunately. He is panting and crying. He is now beginning to chew at the kennel, ripping off pieces.
Maximus urgently needs to leave with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter who can give him a break from his stressful kennel and work with him on his overarousal. He is a very sweet boy who just wants to be someone’s giant lap dog!

Netflix is listed as a 4yr old mixed breed (although we think she’s much younger) who is 45 pounds and came to ACCT as a stray on 6/29. The police brought her in as she was wandering around all by herself in this big city. Netflix is a very sweet dog who has been waiting patiently for a home, but the shelter environment is hard for her (who can blame her!). She is an energetic gal and would do best in an active household. Netflix has had good dog meets and is very treat motivated (especially if you give her hot dogs!). She walks well on the leash and has had no issues going in and out of her kennel. Netflix has not been here for a long time, but said it was a good enough time that now it's time to move on to finding her pawfect home with the pawfect family. If you are looking for a hiking, running, or happy-go-lucky pup, Netflix is your girl! In kennel Netflix can often be seen jumping in the walls, pacing, and doing backflips. This behavior poses a risk for Netflix to injure herself accidentally, and she can escape the kennel as well. Netflix now has a URI and was moved to isolation. It is likely that Netflix will deteriorate quickly in Isolation and needs to urgently leave with an adopter, foster, or rescue.

Stanley was picked up by police officers when he was found wandering around the neighborhood. Police noted Stanley was happy to see them and jumped right into their car. Stanley has made friends with so many shelter staff members, he sometimes forgets that they have a job to do and jumps into their laps and kissing their faces. He can also be relaxed and calm as long as he is getting belly rubs in the process.
During his intake exam, it was difficult to hold him still as he thought it was a party for him, no interest in food, just wanted snuggles. Stanley is a super sweet dog.
He is an active dog who is always up for an adventure. Stanley will also be content staying home and relaxing, as long as he is with his people. Stanley is a wonderful dog who hasn't let his stay in the shelter damper his spirits, he is still as happy as he was on his first day. Even though he hasn't let it get him down, Stanley deserves a home where he can love his family and have some space to play. Stanley would thrive in any home environment but due to his size and energy level, would probably do better dogs matching his energy level and size.

This is a long shot but can anyone help stop this dog from being surrendered to ACCT Philly? An employee at my vet reached out for help but only has until Thursday July 28. Her mother is moving to a nursing home so her father is downsizing to assisted living that does not allow pets. Of course he did not reach out for help until now. The dog is very sweet and friendly with strangers and kids. He is fine with other dogs on walks but when she tried to bring him home herself determined he can not live with other dogs or cats. They tried sort of slow intros but he might have a chance in a home that gave him more time to adjust. He is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, about 4 years old, very loving, affectionate, playful and good with humans. They said they have filled out many intake requests forms already with no reply.

Furever Yours Rescue has two Great Danes looking for a home together!
Justice and Integrity are everything incredible about Great Danes! Huge leaners, gentle, loving, and stunning!
House trained and kennel trained. Their leash skills are really coming along but a fenced yard is a must. Car skills are amazing and they love car rides! Vet manners were excellent considering how typically nervous they are. Like most Danes, routine and security are everything and the more settled in, the more they shine. They will both be getting eye surgeries to correct their eye lids. Integrity is spayed and Justice will be neutered. They were rescued from a kill shelter after living their entire lives in a home. We really hope to keep this pair together.
