Happy adoption day Cleo!

What was supposed to be TNR turned into socializing a kitty who clearly is not feral! Thankful to have the space, time, and resources to help her. She is loving being petted, making biscuits and purring! Hasnāt learnt to play with toys just yetā¦ sheās super cute and sweet! And will soon be able to be adopted! If you or anyone you know is interested please let me know! She is spayed, about 2 years old.
Lenny, my late catsā story.
Another heartbreaking situation. Otra situaciĆ³n desgarradora.
Came across these pups while at the Tuesday market when I was in Mexico last month. One lady said theyāre supposedly kept there to guard the empty lotā¦ they didnāt look in bad shape but the lot has a lot of trash and it doesnāt feel fair to them to be used like this. I published it in several Facebook groups in the area to see if anyone has any input on how to go about this cruel situation.
Update: I went back to the area and was able to talk to the lady whose family takes care of the lot and said they were her husbandāsā¦ I told her I might be interested in adopting perhaps the parents in case itās a breeding situation. If theyāre still doing this next time I go to Mexico, probably summer, I hope to get the dogs out and into adoption!
Set a colony up with a few shelters back in November 2023 - went back to readjust layout (made by .at.heart and volunteers) and an automatic feeder I got at Burlington for $10! My friend lives in that area and will keep me updated. I also met another gal who lives there too and looks after them a little. She let us they are being periodically TNRed (trapped, neutered, released), and adopted if young/friendly enough! I as well wrote my Google number on them in case of any issues. Hope this helps to keep them warm. Will be setting up another colony.
It breaks my heart to see these photos, but itās important to share because these pups and many more in Mexico need our help.
The first three are from my most recent trip to my hometown June/July 2023. The little collared and tag less pup just showed up at my grandparents. Once again I asked around but no one knew. I fed him and watched him until it was dark when another doggo joined, fed him as well. I was about to bring him in for the night when he had gone š©I hope heās home and safe, wherever that is. I hope it was just another irresponsible pet owner letting him roam and that he found his way back, or better yet, that another person who care like me took him and will care for him properly.
The rest of the photos show some dogs and cats I have fed around and . One of the first things I do when arrive in Mexico is to buy wet food pouches to carry with me when I go out, and a portable water bowl and water. Itās the least I can do for now. But my hope is to be able to spay/neuter them, perhaps foster, and find them homes, whether in Mexico or in Reno. I would need more financial stability and support to be able to so.
The last photo is me going back to see if I could come across a pup that was limping to take to the vet, no luck š©
If youāre reading this and would like to support this specific cause, financially or otherwise, please let me know š
Swipe for more cuteness!
Here is one of the kittens I was able to trap last November! My parents again helped me foster them to socialize them as they were pretty feral but still young to be able to be adopted. Once again, a lot of work, but worth it.
Yes, I even ārescuedā a rat once š
This is the only picture I have. They decided to make themselves at home in our laundry room. I was able to capture this one in a trap after many weeks and my roommate released it in a safe area.
First dog rescue in Mexico! Summer 2021.
This little one was roaming around the park near my grandparents house. I went back to get a leash, and asked around the area if it was anyones. I was getting ready to bring her over, but then miraculously found a lady who takes in street dogs, and she kept her! The next two photos are of her at her house!
I hope to start a campaign there soon where pet owners at least keep a tag on their pets as they are usually not chipped and itās hard to tell if they are someoneās. Some irresponsible people let their dogs roam in Mexico!
I often find myself posting in Facebook groups to ask if anyone recognizes certain dogs that have collars. Or asking my grandpaās dog walker. I make sure to feed them anyway because you never know.
I ended up adopting McScreamy and Snuggy who continue to be sweet hearts. My parents kept another kitten and the mom. We have play dates and sleep overs for the kitties sometimes!
Usually when kittens reach in fostering is time to say goodbye š„²
Chilling on the window sill š
Funny thing is I had dogs growing upā¦ Iāve yet to ask my uncle about those kitties I held when I was little, lol.
A couple group photos. The first one is my favorite! š
Nap time! š“
Safe and sound! This was their first night with us (I technically moved back in with my parents for a month or so, they helped me foster them!). We got them a large crate so that they could acclimate.

They will be spayed/neutered tomorrow, and then released. Wish I could keep them all š®āšØOne day Iāll have a farm with rescued barn kitties. For now my mission is to help keep the population down (along with a few other ladies I know) to help break this sad cycle. So bittersweet. Maybe it does take one to know oneā¦ P.S. cover was already off when I got there, even with stuff weighing it down, the wind and kitty managed to tuck the cover in the trap.#spay #neuter #spayandneuter #feral #cats #feralcat

Last November 2022 my aunt alerted me of more cats around her neighborhood! I successfully trapped 3, one adult and two kittens over a few days until the weather became unbearable. If cats go in the traps overnight, itās not a good idea to leave them there if itās freezing as they arenāt able to seek warm shelter and can freeze! I plan to go back to this area and keep trapping to spay/neuter if feral, or trap to take to a shelter. Now that the humane society has had a change of CEO, I would feel comfortable again taking animals to them again. Itās too long of a story to share on here, so check out the long version in the highlight named āshelter workā. #feral #feralcat #catcolony #spay #neuter #cats #kittens #animalrescue #catrescue #rescue #trapping #cattrap #cattrapping

I quickly learnt that rescuing is rarely easyā¦ this one took a few days to make sure we got everyone, 5 kittens and mom!#kittens #cats #catmom #momcat #rescue #animalrescue #catrescue
My rescue journey started a bit over two years ago when I was alerted by my aunt about a family of kittens under her shed! Without a second thought I grabbed supplies, and went over, knowing there was a possibility Iād adopt at least one š They came to me a few months after my Lenny passed, (I adopted him in spring 2018, after I fell in love with him while working at a shelter (check his story out in the highlights titled āLennyā) so it was a vulnerable time. #kittens #cats #rescue #animalrescue #catrescue
