Yesterday was a busy day for us at the blood bank! We had seven wonderful pups visit us and donate! Here’s Deacon, who spent most of his visit trying to con us into giving him treats...and we fell for it! Thank you Deacon!!

Today's sneak peek is a LIVE AUCTION item! Richmond is known for its bright, colorful murals, and your pet’s face could become part of that iconic imagery!

Popular street artist and filmmaker Nils Westergard will paint a mural of the winner’s pet on a wall of The King Agency on Lombardy. You may have seen Nils’ work at the Richmond SPCA or on over a dozen other walls around Richmond. But wait—there’s more! The winner’s pet will be the guest of honor at an art unveiling street party for 50 of their closest friends! The party will include food, libations, photographer and a DJ on a mutually agreeable evening.

This package is only available for auction at Pets on Parade, but keep an eye out over the next week for silent auction items, which you can bid on from the comfort of your home!

BluePearl Richmond Blood Bank (www.bluepearlvet.com/hospital/richmond-va/) is located in Dogwood Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center.

When pets undergo surgery or are suffering from trauma, auto-immune diseases, heat stroke or other illnesses, they may require blood transfusions, just as humans do. Our blood banks for pets are dedicated to providing a safe and plentiful blood supply to animals in need.

Greyhounds are considered universal blood donors and are welcome guests at BluePearl. You receive free bloodwork, physical examinations, a credit to your Dogwood account to be used in the event you need their services and a goodie bag at each visit.

Stop by their booth to find out if your dog may qualify for this life saving service.

Our thoughts this morning are with all those that have been a part of his medical journey. Please stand in support of all healthcare workers, no matter their part as they mourn his passing

I’m so very sorry to share that Tommie just passed away. He had just finished having his bandages changed and stopped breathing; his body simply gave out. Tommie was pain free and surrounded by people that loved him when he passed. Needless to say, we are all devastated and angry and sad and terribly disappointed. I want to say thank you to everyone at Virginia Veterinary Centersand the VCU Evans-Haynes Burn Center for loving Tommie and fighting so hard to save him. We remain steadfast in our dedication to find the person now responsible for Tommie’s death. The REWARD for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of the person/s has risen to $25,000. This increase is a result of your individual donations and is joined by pledges from our partners and friends at The Humane Society of the United States, the Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals and the Humane Rescue Alliance. I’m so very sorry that we couldn’t save Tommie but I’m confident that we did everything we possibly could and that he felt true love and compassion for the time that he was in our care. We remain ❤️
