Friday appreciation post for all the sweet vision impaired pups out there! 👁️🌟

This handsome boy we have the pleasure of treating is named Chunk 🐶– his ‘zombie eye’ clearly looks abnormal, but sometimes your dog can have issues with no drastic changes in the eye. 👀

Some non-cosmetic signs your pup may be having vision issues ➡️ bumping into things, hesitation to walk, acting confused or uncertain. 🐶If any sort of eye issues arises with your fur baby, it’s always best to have them check by a veterinary ophthalmologist!👩‍⚕️

❤️ Double tap to show this good boy some love!

The Animal Vision Center team & Kenai🐾 participated in the Virginia Birding Classic earlier this month! 🦜

It’s a statewide birding competition where teams search the public lands of Virginia for as many species as they can find in 24-hours.🐦We saw over 60 birds during our outing! 🤩

The coolest part? The event benefits the Grant Program, which awards annual grants to non-profit programs focused on connecting youth to the outdoors.🫶

Did you know we have Dorothy Harrison Eustis and Morris Frank to thank for the emergence of service dogs in the United States? A U.S. citizen and dog trainer living in Switzerland, Eustis wrote an article in the late 1920s about the successful use of trained dogs acting as guides for blinded World War I veterans. The publicity inspired Frank, who was visually impaired, to seek out the writer.

Together, they trained Frank’s dog Buddy as a guide. In 1929, Frank and Eustis launched a training program in the U.S. called , which continues to advocate for access and accommodation to people who use service animals. 🦮

Sending gratitude and good wishes to this organization on its anniversary today. We appreciate you! ❤️

The Seeing Eye, Inc. was co-founded by Morris Frank in 1929. Morris proved the capabilities of Seeing Eye dogs with his first guide, Buddy, a German shepherd...
