25 of our amazing veterinary colleagues across the CVS referrals devision are taking on the gruelling three peaks challenge!!

Why would they tackle this physical and mental challenge? In order to support two incredible charities very close to our hearts! Please support this amazing team if you possibly can, in order that they can raise vital funds for both of these life saving charities! All details on the just giving link below… they have set a target of 10k which will be an incredible boost for both charities!

We’re incredibly proud of Kate Boyd, our first year Oncology Resident at , who has won this year’s Wim Misdorp Research Award for her research abstract at this year's ESVONC Congress!

Her research "Retrospective analysis investigating the independence of histological and immunohistochemical prognostic factors from 199 canine mast cell tumours with follow up from their primary care practices" has been running for two years.

The project is a great example of pan-CVS collaboration. Conducted at Highcroft Referrals (soon to become Bristol Vet Specialists), it has involved case recruitment by Finn Pathologists, follow up from CVS first opinion practices across the UK, along with analysis by CVS’ resident veterinary statistician and epidemiologist.

Phase two of the project will involve validation of an AI algorithm, using the same dataset, and has won funding from the CVS Residency Research Award.

The Wim Misdorp Award recognises outstanding contributions to the knowledge related to pathogenesis, diagnosis, therapy, prevention, or control of animal tumour-diseases. It is given once yearly at ESVONC Congress to a veterinarian based upon their written abstract and oral presentation of scientific data at the congress.

Our Story

Soft Tissue Surgery - Orthopaedic surgery - Neurology and Neurosurgery - Anaesthesia and Analgesia- Oncology - Exotic Species - Diagnostic Imaging and CT - Emergency and Critical Care- Internal Medicine - Rehabilitation- Interventional Radiology We are a large multi-disciplinary veterinary referral hospital, based in Bristol, the service is run from our veterinary hospital in Whitchurch, with full diagnostic and treatment facilities and a 24 hour nursing and emergency care service.

From its humble beginnings in 1982, Highcroft Veterinary Referrals has grown to become one of the UK’s leading veterinary practices, providing expert and specialist care for cats, dogs, rabbits and exotic pets. Our multi-disciplinary team of specialists and advanced veterinary practitioners offer services in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, oncology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, out-patient imaging, feline medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, anaesthesia and soft tissue surgery. We are one of the few veterinary hospitals that run a 24-hour emergency service for all clients and has a vet on site 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, with full access to a patient’s medical history. This saves critical time in an emergency; a patient can be assessed and treated straight away and have around-the-clock care at the hospital for as long as they need it. Our clinicians have advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities at their fingertips allowing them to provide the highest levels of care for all patients. Highcroft Veterinary Referrals is accredited with the highest practice standard by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and was described by the RCVS Inspector as the ‘best he had ever seen’ in his time as an inspector. As well as being awarded with ‘Outstanding Client Service’, Highcroft Veterinary Referrals has been awarded three further awards in Diagnostic Service, Emergency and Critical Care and In-Patient Service.
