Beginning 2024 as enthusiastic as Deefor is for having his photo taken 😂 (FYI - we had a slippery bench that day 🫠)
We want to take this opportunity to thank all our clients, old and new for supporting our small business, whether that’s through our trekking or training services. You enable us to grow and ultimately, enable us to help more dogs and their owners. We’ve been a little quiet recently as we’ve been busy behind the scenes, working on lots of amazing projects for the year ahead. Although we’re more than excited for what we have in store, we shouldn’t overlook the growth and progress we’ve made over the past year.
Alongside the amazing adventures we’ve been on with our TREK ‘N’ TRAINERS (really is the best job in the world), we’ve grown substantially on the training front, through our one-to-one training sessions and online courses. We’ve started providing education to veterinary teams on how we can improve veterinary visits for our canines. We’re looking forward to working with more vet practices in the North West, helping to reduce stress in patients and everyone else involved!
In March, we gained another family member, Ember. She has already taught me so much, our journey up to now has been far from plain-sailing. We are still getting to know one another and strengthening our bond, she continues to teach me lessons in patience, understanding, problem solving and ultimately developing my skills as a dog trainer. When she’ll be a fully fledged TREK ‘N’ TRAINER, is debatable as we’re nowhere near getting that perfect recall or loose lead walking - for now that’s not as important as her building her trust in me her guardian & we’re very much enjoying the journey!
We’re back out Canicrossing, turns out Ember is the perfect running companion, she pulls like a train, and we can’t wait to get out competing this year. I’ve been broadening my knowledge on scent work, movement puzzles, free-work, predation substitution training and have found a passion for man trailing. We’ve started agility with both Ember and Deefor, something they’re both loving and a new area of training for me also. Not to mention, the dogs got to meet Santa Paws, apparently you won’t find any canines on the naughty list, as all dogs are good boys and girls!
We’ve attended numerous IMDT workshops, learning and networking with other fantastic trainers - our profession can be lonely at times! Looking forward to working alongside some of you in the year ahead. Continuing work towards gaining more qualifications, still beavering away at a Level 4 Advanced Canine Behaviour Diploma and working towards accreditation through the KCAI scheme. All of this alongside the endless amount of canine related seminars, webinars, book reading and podcast listening, constantly expanding that all important knowledge, there’s always time for learning.
And finally, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to both Gina and Hannah, which I am so grateful to have in our TREK ‘N’ TRAIN tribe, they’ve been with us since day one. I am so grateful of the support you give to me, physically, mentally, and emotionally - and not to mention the compassionate care you give to every single dog that gets to work with you, we are very lucky.
Wow, well that ended up incredibly long. It’s humbling to read back. If you’ve made it this far, well done!
Peace out 2023, bring on 2024 ✌🏼🐾✋🏼
