The Lady and the Tramp puppies had their first vaccines this week and will be ready to go to their forever homes around mid-June!
Mama is a light brindle pittie and very sweet - unknown who dad was. Mama was an unclaimed local stray. They've been in foster care since they were a day old.

Roman is about 8 years old and looking for his forever family.
Roman was adopted for a few years and later returned because he wasn't doing well with the toddler in the home.
Roman is a sweet pittie who loves to cuddle with adult humans and be by his people. He likes other dogs to chase him - its the best kind of play! But he doesn't want other dogs to wrestle and tackle - the game becomes no fun for him at that point. He loves to go outside and go for walks and would prefer a more laid back/calmer energy household. Roman doesn't have the stamina for all the young whippersnappers (animal or human kind!) I can't blame him!

Hi, I'm Tracy. My husband, Ben and I started Sweetie-pie Collars 2 years ago as a way to raise money and help animal rescues. We have been fostering dogs for 10 years. I started making collars as a way to help our fosters stand out and get noticed. It's become a way of sending a piece of me with each foster when they go on to start life in their new home.

How has this kiddo been a foster for the last YEAR? He was a surprise New Leash guest at our launch party this past weekend and we was a complete gentleman! He listened so well to his foster mom, Annie, and did AMAZING in a public setting with lots of noises, other dogs, kids and all different kinds of people. He was a dream
Charlie has been in rescue for a year. He came to rescue as a 6 month old puppy and has been waiting ever since.
He is 100% good boy. He's around 50 pounds and estimated to be a boxer mix. Charlie loves to play with other dogs and he is food motivated which is great for training. He gets a little overstimulated at times when he's out and about and reacts at the other dogs he sees, so he needs a family who is willing to continue to work on that.

Tasha was likely hit by a car, and while she was lucky to not have any broken bones, she had a large hernia that needed to be repaired under her back leg. She's healed up well and is ready to run with her new buddy! 🐾🐾

Ticks are out and rampant already. Make sure your pets are receiving their flea and tick prevention each month. Make sure to check for ticks on the humans too after spending time outdoors. In some areas, ticks are already heavy in shorter grasses too.
Ticks can transmit Lyme's disease, Erlichia and Anaplasmosis to your pets. All can be painful to your pet and result in additional diagnostic tests and antibiotics. Having your dog's 4dx heartworm test done each year tests not only for those adult heartworms but these three diseases as well.

Yesterday concludes another successful semester partnering with the DCTC vet tech program - thank you so much to the staff and students for all you do for our animals! 🩷
In the last month or so, we have taken in not one or two, but SIX cats that were outdoors in the twin cities that have all been positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus or FIV. FIV is spread though cats by deep bite wounds and since it is a virus, once they have it, they have it for life.
Please reconsider before you allow any cats outside to roam. It's not just about the extra litters that aren't needed, it's about the livestock and flocks they can pester, and unnecessary illnesses and early death that can come to them.
Your cat is not missing out by being inside.

Cali, Kianna, and Taffy begin the first step to the rest of their lives. They came to rescue from an unfortunate situation. Taffy has mammary masses that started 4 years ago that we will be removing and testing for cancer. All three will be spayed and receive dentals and full workups. The future is looking bright for these senior girls.

Fluffy was previously a much loved pet for a senior citizen. When her owner went to a nursing home in February, the family left her outside to fend for herself and sold the house. She was surviving alone for six months. Fluffy is also a senior. She thrives in a quiet environment but loves to have her people nearby. She spends her days circulating between her various perches, sitting near her people, and purring quietly. She avoids loud noises and high activity levels… which is a problem in her current environment where , unfortunately, there are loud barking dogs. We know this is not her best situation. She is spayed and vaccinated and has been fully health-checked. Her labwork does show elevated kidney numbers, so she is on a special diet. Fluffy has a lot of living left to do and deserves a soft landing.
