Banfield Gives Back
Nothing will stop Banfield Associates from building the #DoGoodMovement – not even a global software outage. 💪
Throughout that difficult situation, we all remained #UnitedInCare to continue to see the pets that needed to be seen. And once things were back to normal, you’d think a little “me time” would be in order … but not for our Banfield Associates.
In the week after the outage, Associates focused on doing good in their communities at more than 10 Banfield Gives Back events across the country. 🧡
As Jeff Davis, Field Director for the San Diego market and beach cleanup volunteer said, “This was just a great way for us to come together after a long couple of days and make a difference.”
Thank you to our community champions for organizing and our Associates who made time to volunteer at events including a:
➡️ Community microchip event in San Antonio, TX
➡️ Beach cleanup in Oceanside, CA
➡️ Flood cleanup at a Shelter in St. Louis, MO
➡️ Free clinic funded by our charitable arm Banfield Foundationrtnership with Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) in Baltimore, MD
➡️ Habitat for Humanity event in Charlotte, NC
➡️ Operation Kindness event in Dallas, TX
➡️ Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Keystone Conference in Atlanta, GA
➡️ Stand Down clinic with the #BanfieldVeterans DRG and Department of Veterans Affairs in Martinez, CA
➡️ Activity to support a local food bank in Pennsauken, NJ
➡️ Banfield Pet Academy presentation at a preschool in Norwalk, CT (stay tuned for more!)
In what is already such a caring profession, Banfield Associates’ commitment to giving back really stands out and makes us all proud! 👏👏👏

BGC Keystone Conference
Banfield Gives Back took on the Boys & Girls Clubs Of America 2024 National Keystone Conference in Atlanta, GA! 🧡 We brought a team of Associates to the College & Career Expo to interact with hundreds of teens from across the country about careers in veterinary medicine and the possibilities their futures hold. ✨
Who stole the spotlight, though? The Blue Tongued Skink named Tater Tot we brought with us. 🦎 There were tons of great conversations, dancing, and inspiring moments of connection. BIG thanks to our community champion Ashli Macko for organizing and Associates Courtney Dobson, Joleene Hardy, Dr. April Allen, and Dr. Tameka Tolliver for attending, and even our #NextVet intern Kaitlyn got in on the action to share her experience. 👏
We always enjoy getting a chance to give back to our communities and helping to set up the next generation of veterinary professionals for success in their careers through this incredible event and our national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. 🩺

Student Ambassador Academy
Last week, Banfield hosted its first ever Student Ambassador Academy here at our headquarters in Vancouver, WA!🧡👏🧡
We flew in 25 Student Ambassadors from across the world (!!) to engage with our purpose up close, build their network, hone their skills for their #VetMed career journeys, and learn from Associates that help us make an impact daily.
Honestly, it was giving ✨Summer Camp Vibes✨ and who doesn’t love that??🏕️
Even though Banfield HQ is feeling a little empty this week without our new friends, we're looking forward to inviting our ambassadors back next year to do it all again! Check out the Banfield website to learn more about being a student ambassador if you or someone you know might be interested in joining this amazing program.

NextVet: Hayley Frost
Hear from Hayley Frost, Practice Manager for Josie Oaks in Carrollton, TX, about her amazing experience with NextVet interns and how fulfilling it is to help inspire the next generation of veterinary professionals. 🩺
You may remember their team formed such a bond with NextVet alum from last year, Alessia, that they all attended her high-school graduation. It’s no wonder then that Alessia decided to return as a PCA during her summer break from Harvard. And that Josie Oaks was eager to welcome a new NextVet intern this year, Sara.🧡
Show this team some love for their incredible work! 👏👏👏

Quality Week
We hope you had a great Quality Week at Banfield exploring the Q3 Pet Health Spotlight Kits focused on dermatology and itchy pets! Every Associate plays a role in impacting the quality of care we provide for pets in our hospitals and it's important to leverage out best practices and continue to learn about the top concerns pets and pet owners are facing.
If you missed out, ask your PM to get the resources on nutrition, medication, topicals, client education and more. Plus, there's fun swag! 👏
Shout out to Banfield Paramus and Banfield Castle Rock for sharing their unboxing experience with us. 🧡

US War Dogs - Peggy's First Visit
🐾Supporting our K-9 Veterans🇺🇸
Meet Peggy & Josh, the incredible K-9 Veteran and her handler who are Banfield's newest clients! 🧡 Our Veterans Diversity Resource Group is graciously sponsoring her Optimum Wellness Plan in collaboration with US War Dogs to recognize the heroic contributions of K-9 Veterans. When Peggy came in for her first visit, Banfield Woodbridge had to make it extra special, and even rolled out the red carpet for her and Josh! ✨
Peggy is a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois who served as a Marsoc Multi-Purpose Canine from 2018 to 2022, completing two deployments in Syria and Iraq. During her service, she participated in 20 missions involving advising, assisting, and enabling operations, conducting over 300 hours of explosive detection, close quarter battle, cave clearances, and dismounted foot patrols. She holds the distinction of being the first Marsoc dog to attend military free fall school and played a pivotal role in enhancing the team's jumping capabilities.
Thank you, Peggy and Josh, for your service! We are proud and honored to provide quality veterinary care for heroes like you.
And to the Woodbridge team, thank you for helping Peggy receive quality preventive care. It’s a great Quality Week reminder of the positive impact we can have on people and pets.

AVMA 2024
#AVMA2024 is done and dusted! So great to see our Associates come together for amazing learning and time together. They made the most of CE, celebrations and keynotes while saving energy for the Associate reception, where we showcased Banfield’s unique culture.
There, Associates shared info about Banfield’s commitment to quality medicine and equity, inclusion & diversity as well as health & wellbeing, the #BanfieldGivesBack volunteer program, our charitable arm Banfield Foundation and more.
Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Alea Harrison, made the most of the opportunity to speak and share perspectives with Associates, as did leaders including Dr. Kirk Breuninger and Dr. Meg Gilhooly. The face-to-face time is precious and one of the reasons we love conferences like AVMA.
Another reason? The opportunity to enable Associates to receive high-quality CE. All Banfield veterinarians and veterinary technicians receive CE funds and streamlined registration for select conferences like AVMA —minimizing or eliminating the need to pay out-of-pocket conference expenses. Check out the Banfield Conference Partnerships page on Fetch to learn more!

Veterinary Appreciation Day is for celebrating YOU!
Commitment. Dedication. Passion.
Anyone who visits one of our hospital teams will see how our shared purpose, #ABetterWorldForPets, is represented by our Associates daily. While prioritizing recognition isn’t a one day effort—we’ll take any opportunity to honor the work of the greater veterinary community.
Happy Veterinary Appreciation Day! 🌍🐾

Earlier this month our chief medical officer, Dr. Alea Harrison, delivered the commencement speech at her alma mater, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine — what an inspiring full-circle moment! As she welcomed the newest class of veterinarians into the profession, she called on them to be the change and help blaze the trail for building a sustainable future.
“As veterinarians we not only have a responsibility to animals, but we also have a responsibility to the profession. Understand that the smallest gesture can make a big difference.” — Dr. Alea Harrison
Whether you’re a new grad or a long-time practitioner, we all have an amazing opportunity to make #ABetterWorldForPets!

Meet Dr. Aisha Admani!
Dr. Admani’s Banfield journey began as a client where she fell in love with the Optimum Wellness Plans! After completing an externship with Banfield, she worked at private practice before deciding to come back to Banfield.
Recently promoted to Lead DVM, Dr. Admani loves mentoring DVM students and is interested in becoming an ACOS one day.

AAPI x HIV Awareness
Today is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. HIV prevention is a critical health issue. During #AAPIHeritageMonth, our #BanfieldAPI and #BanfieldPride DRGs teamed up to highlight the intersectionality of this issue and the importance of ending the stigma and discrimination that disproportionately affects the health of the API
Community.
Here are some facts from the National Institutes of Health (hivinfo.nih.gov):
• API communities are the fastest growing minority group in the U.S., but rates of HIV testing are lower than the general population.
• HIV-related stigma is the primary barrier to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment in API communities.
• Culturally competent providers and public health education are needed to engage and educate API communities to make a difference.
At Banfield, we value and support the health of our Associates and believe there is no place for stigma or discrimination when it comes to our own health care – as well as the care that pets receive. Ensuring that we each feel safe to seek support is central to our culture of wellbeing and belonging.
We can all help #StopHIVStigma by talking about and normalizing HIV testing and prevention options as a standard health care practice. In fact, there are 12 National HIV Awareness Days that happen all year long, providing even more opportunities to learn and talk about how this health issue affects people in different communities.
Our #BanfieldPride and #BanfieldAPI DRGs are always great resources for learning about and discussing important topics like these in our Equity, Inclusion & Diversity journey – especially related to culturally competent care for pets and humans both. Visit them on Viva Engage for a link to more information about this day, HIV insurance benefits available to Associates, and for more educational moments throughout the year.

National Pet Month
May is National Pet Month!🐶🐱🧡
To celebrate, we’re introducing some of the newest (and cutest) OWP members to our Banfield family. But we aren’t just welcoming puppies and kittens. Our more senior furry family members need regular care as well.
As pets get older, they are more prone to osteoarthritis and other mobility issues. That's why our periodic focus areas are on canine and feline mobility support. You can check out these resources on Fetch to learn more!
Thank you for sharing these adorable pics, teams!! And keep sharing your hospital team’s OWP members!! Be sure to tag #BanfieldLife in your pictures! 📸

How awesome is this?! 🙌🌟
After Team Landstown, VA won the National bquality award at NFL, Dr. Jacqueline Vacca, Area Chief of Staff of Team Landstown, knew she wanted to celebrate with the entire team!
So… she hosted a mini award ceremony of her own!🏅
Super huge shoutout to Dr. Vacca - not only is this so fun, but it’s incredibly thoughtful of you to acknowledge the hard work of your entire team. Thank you for coming up with such a creative way to recognize Team Landstown. 👏👏👏

Earth Month
Earth Month may be coming to a close, but we have a unique opportunity to consider how we run our practices to positively impact the health of pets, people, and the planet all year long! 🐱🐶🌎
These sneak-peek clips are a part of our new three-part video series on our Fetch sustainability page, where you can learn more about Banfield’s sustainability journey -- as well as simple, everyday actions you can take today in your hospital to reduce emissions, such as starting a recycling program or signing up for the Royal Canin Free Recycling Program in partnership with TerraCycle. Thank you, Margo Mosher, Jen Gale, and Dr. Meaghan Gilhooly for making these awesome videos!
Our work and commitments to sustainability are part of the Mars, Incorporatedustainable in a Generation Plan and Net Zero Roadmap; an action plan for achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, including a new target to cut carbon in half by 2030 across its full value chain 👏
Remember, no step is too small to help create a healthier planet and future for pets and the people who love them!

World Vet Day
Happy #WorldVeterinaryDay to all of our AMAZING Associates and the incredible professionals in our global veterinary community!
Being a veterinary professional takes a special kind of person: Someone with an open heart who cares deeply for others with a dedication to learning, growth, and service. Without question, this is all of you – the caring, dedicated, and courageous people we are grateful to call Banfield Associates! 🫶
Did you know that according to Gallup’s 2023 Honesty and Ethics poll, veterinarians are ranked the second most ethical profession!? What an incredible recognition of your work and a testament to how you show up for pets and people in your community.
To help ensure veterinary interactions are supportive, safe, and inclusive, Banfield worked with Mars Veterinary Health and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to develop the Positive Pet Care Guide, aimed at strengthening the relationship between veterinary teams and clients. This free resource is available to the entire veterinary profession, and outlines shared expectations of both veterinary professionals and pet owners to help foster healthy lines of communication. Check it out in the link in bio.
This World Veterinary Day, let’s express our gratitude to each other for our shared dedication, compassion, and commitment to making A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. Please chime in below!🌎🐶😻
And thank you for making a difference every single day. We see you and we appreciate you! 🧡

We ❤️ CSC Week! Seeing the teams shoutout and highlight CSCs from tagging us here on socials to TailWags has been incredible!
Did you know? At Banfield, our CSCs are made up of 5 different generations! It’s one reason why we love seeing the teams share their shoutouts to all of the CSCs that bring such a diverse mix of energy, experience, and support to all of you ❤️
Studies show that today’s multigenerational workforce brings together a greater mix of workers at all ages than ever before. The #BanfieldGenerations DRG is dedicated to bringing members of different generations together to learn from the diverse range of perspectives and experiences that generational mix provides. And combating age bias. Nearly 30% of U.S. workers say they have felt unfairly treated due to their age at some point in their career.
At Banfield, we're dedicated to building a culture of belonging where every Associate feels valued and heard. Recognizing and addressing unconscious biases is a crucial step in this journey. The new(ish) Equity, Inclusion & Diversity Toolkit and its section on Unconscious bias is a great resource for this. Check it out on Fetch! And consider joining the Banfield Generations DRG on Viva Engage to share your voice.
Most of all, keep learning from and supporting each other, like all of the awesome CSCs here ⬆️
